It was a beautiful day last Saturday so we decided to go for a drive to Calgary and visit our usual haunts. Of course it’s a given that we have to stop at Hermès.
Just when I told myself “No more!”, here I am again continuing the series on my favourite pattern from Hermès’ tableware collection.
So without further ado, here they are. The newest addition to our collection – Cheval d’Orient soup plates. This piece showcases fine polychromatic pattern on the rim which is decorated with a geometric border inspired by braids on Arab saddle cloths.
The centre of the soup plate features a galloping horse.
I haven’t really thought about getting these soup plates before. However, after seeing them in the store, we decided to get them since they were just the right size and can be versatile. Other than being used for soups, they can also be used for salads, appetizers and desserts.
I can’t wait to use these them!

Excuse me young man but you spent all week with me and failed to mention this once! Not once…….I am hurt and sad…..you don’t want me to share in your joy and happiness? hehehehehe
Do you know how hard it was for me not to tell you about it? You don’t have to be sad as I didn’t tell anyone about it. Now you can share my joy and excitement on Monday!
Ernskie,
We both know that the only way you will ever stop buying Hermes is if Hermes goes out of business.
As beautiful as your photos are, they don’t do justice to the true colours and pattern of these dishes. Congrats. I will look forward to seeing these dishes in action.
Deb, you know me too well. Although you’re in the same boat as I am. I still haven’t seen a pic of you wearing that gorgeous scarf you bought recently.
Yeah, it’s so hard to capture the true colours with just a simple camera. I really need a controlled light room or something. The shiny areas particularly with gold are harder to take pictures of.
Congrats on your new purchases.
Thanks Uyen-chi! And congratulations to you! I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of baby Olivia.
Beautiful! Congrats Ernskie!
Thanks Mark!
