Our latest gadget: The Thermapen

We’ve been wanting to have this gadget for so long so imagine our excitement when we picked it up from the Post Office.

Look! They even included a small pack of Jelly Belly that says ‘Thank You’. I love these jelly beans. They should have just packed the box with jelly beans so there would have been less waste! You agree, right?

And here it is. The super-fast digital thermometer — the Thermapen from ThermoWorks.

We played for it a little bit with hot and cold water and it gave us the temperature really fast. Maybe this weekend we’ll get to try it with some home-cooked dinner. You can even see here that it’s giving me the temperature in the dining room.

It even comes with a Certificate of Calibration as it is used by health and food inspectors.

It is pretty light, easy to read and comes in a variety of colours. I must say though that it does come with a steep price at US $89 plus shipping and handling. However, after seeing all the great reviews on the product and being the only thermometer used by America’s Test Kitchen and Alton Brown, we decided to take the plunge and get it.

For those who love to cook, it is certainly a gadget worth having in the kitchen. Sadly for us, they decided to temporarily reduce the price at US $74 which is great for those who are looking to get one.

Oh well, c’est la vie!

You can find the Thermapen and other gadgets in the Thermoworks website: www.thermoworks.com.
