Hermès Jypsiere

Presenting the Jypsiere.

Jypsiere1

It is certainly one of a few Hermès bags I never thought would ever be available in the Hermès on-line store, but then, here it is. Designed by Jean Paul Gautier, the Jypsiere was revealed during his Fall 2008 runway show for Hermès. It is a unisex shoulder bag which usually comes in clemence bullcalf leather. Notice the similarities with the ever-famous Birkin bag?

I must say, it is a really nice bag after seeing it in the store. Same as my Steve bag, it is a little on the heavy side which is understandable considering its all leather construction. The only slightly negative thought that came to mind after checking out the bag was getting used to opening and closing the straps and the swivel clasp. Perhaps it’s just something that one has to get used to. It’s currently available in the US Hermès website in a few colours and two sizes. The small one which measures 13.4 x 10.2 x 5.9 inches retails for US$7,600 and the large one which measures 14.5 x 11.8 x 6.3 inches is US$8,100.

Kung Hei Fat Choy!

 Year of the Tiger07

Year of the Tiger

2010 is the Year of the Tiger and is also dominated by the metal element. Of course gold to the Chinese is a symbol of wealth and good fortune which speaks to lunar hopes of good luck and prosperity. So here is something we put together at home to usher in the new year.

We actually made the tiger and the dancing lion. It’s all made from paper and it was quite a lot of cutting and gluing. We found the patterns from Canon’s Creative Park website.

My eyes can blink and I can open and close my mouth.

According to Dr. Mao’s forecast for 2010:

In Chinese astrology the tiger is one of the most dynamic and powerful signs. Its nature is unpredictable, courageous, and explosive. Therefore, the year of the Tiger is usually associated with big changes and social disorder; 2010 is likely to be a turbulent year—on both a global and a personal level. However, those who gain an understanding of it through this article and their own spiritual awareness can cultivate the flexibility to adapt to changes and keep a steady hand on the keel through these rough waters. When you meet the challenges head on and get proactive about your health, you will be all the stronger for it by year’s end.

Ya’ll have a wonderful Chinese new year!
