Oh yes! We braved the cold, windy weather and went on a day trip last Saturday to visit the newly-opened Hermès store in Calgary. After 15 minutes of going around the ‘one-way’ maze in downtown Calgary and dodging all the road repairs, we’re glad to have finally found a parking spot close to Holt Renfrew. The walk to the store was exciting as we didn’t know what to expect after our last visit and the place was still under renovation.
We proceeded to go inside Holt Renfrew and I must say the renovations were pretty impressive. It has a lot more space and a few of the luxury brands have certainly expanded like Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co. We finally made it to Hermès and while the store is a little small, the place is certainly beautiful and carries a good selection of goods. By that I mean scarves, ties, porcelain, and of course, lots of leather goods. From key chains to agendas, belts, wallets and bags. Lots of bags of different colours and sizes! I saw some Kellys, Haut à Courroies (HAC), Marwari, Birkin, and other popular bag styles. There’s even a red crocodile Birkin with diamond-studded clasp and lock which usually marks the opening of a store.
Here are some pictures I took of the store.
I was interested in a few pieces they have in the store but the place got really packed with clients and the sales associates were all busy. (Yes, my dear friends. I know some of you may find it hard to believe but I did walk away from the store without buying anything.) We just decided to go back another day. Besides, we still had to hit a few more stores in Calgary before heading back to Edmonton.
However, we didn’t leave the store empty-handed. We got something for free from Hermès. That’s right. It was free! The gracious greeter in the store gave each one of us a balloon and a lollipop. A golden horse balloon and a big orange lollipop to be precise.
They were certainly eye catching give-aways. Right after we got out of the store, people walking around Holt Renfrew were asking us where we got them.
Seems like the Hermès opening was a hit and it’s here to stay, hopefully expand to Edmonton. It was a nice visit and certainly wouldn’t be the last one.
Promise.

wow, i wish they would also be giving freebies at the opening in manila. hahaha…i like both! the balloon and the lollipops!!!!
Yeah, that was a nice surprise. The lollipops were really, really good. Although, I wonder why they didn’t give out any hard hats stamped with the location of the new store. They normally send them out to grand openings.
