Wellington Garden Centre

A friend and colleague knew that we were looking for some ideas on what to do with our backyard. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it but it’s just kinda “blah” since it’s basically just a nice lawn with two trees in each corner. She told me to visit Wellington Garden Centre located in the north side of Edmonton for some inspiration. We’ve been to a few in the Edmonton, Sherwood Park and St. Albert areas so we know there are some really nice ones with big trees from the Georgia Tree Company online. We have never been to this one before so might as well have a look!

Welcome to Wellington

The place wasn’t that easy to find as their sign wasn’t very visible. All my colleague told me was that “it’s by Cineplex Odeon.” We eventually found it with the help of Google maps.

Here’s a charming little cottage that greets you by the entrance. Just an indication of more beautiful things to look forward to.

Quaint and lovely!

And here’s how it looks like inside.

WellingtonGardenCentre04

Gorgeous barn wood table.

WellingtonGardenCentre05

A Victorian birdcage.

The meandering path on the side.

WellingtonGardenCentre08

The path to the garden.

And here is the back side. Look at the lovely windowboxes!

WellingtonGardenCentre07

It even looks better from the back.

WellingtonGardenCentre06

A wonderful arrangement for a flower box.

Let’s go see the beautiful gardens, shall we?

WellingtonGardenCentre13

Lots of colours and varying heights.

WellingtonGardenCentre11

This pink pom-pom is a definite must-have for any garden.

WellingtonGardenCentre18

I wonder if these were meant to look like wild flowers.

WellingtonGardenCentre19

Looks delicate.

WellingtonGardenCentre14

This is a weird one isn't it?

WellingtonGardenCentre21

More yellow flowers.

WellingtonGardenCentre35

Ooh... shiny!

WellingtonGardenCentre36

A fountain of succulents.

And here are the plants, flowers and garden accessories for sale.

WellingtonGardenCentre17

A lot of them were on sale!

WellingtonGardenCentre16

A selection of wrought iron chairs.

And here is one of the most exquisite gift shops I have ever been to in Edmonton. They carry a lot of beautiful French and French-inspired treasures!

WellingtonGardenCentre22

I could live in a barn like this!

WellingtonGardenCentre29

They also carry marvelous chandeliers...

WellingtonGardenCentre28

...china, flatware, napkins and placemats...

WellingtonGardenCentre33

I should have asked if that fireplace mantle is for sale. It probably is.

WellingtonGardenCentre30

There's always something nice to find everywhere you look.

WellingtonGardenCentre26

They have a selection of mirrors as well.

WellingtonGardenCentre24

An intimate dinner in the garden perhaps?

WellingtonGardenCentre34

Wonderful topiaries and various pots.

These urns by the side of the gift shop are simply majestic. Unfortunately, they’re $3,500 each so I just admired them from afar while taking refuge in the shade of this beautiful arbor.

WellingtonGardenCentre15

Ahhh... nice and cool in here.

After a quick respite from the sun, sadly, we had to leave. We certainly enjoyed visiting this place and got a lot of ideas and inspiration for our backyard. I hope we can turn our backyard into an oasis like this someday.

We’ll be back! And that’s, for sure.

Wow… thanks for all the eye candy. Loved all the flowers, and all the garden ornaments.

I love them all too. If only we could make our backyard look like a fraction of that garden it would be wonderful.
